*"Closing the borders" isn't enough to silence a population that has been robbed, exploited, and beaten to a state of mere survival.*

["It looks like a war zone" The Guardian quotes one France Charity worker ](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/oct/19/looting-french-cities-continues-second-night?ref=the-midnite-desk.com)describing the scenes of the streets in France. Since September, French youth and young adults have taken the streets of many cities. [Even burning down the city hall of Limoges. ](https://www.reuters.com/world/frances-limoges-fire-ravaged-town-hall-rekindles-memories-notre-dame-2026-10-18/?ref=the-midnite-desk.com)

The Protests which grew from student protests about abysmal school funding to now protesting the economic failures of a capitalist system, Since 2000, wages in France have increased 11% while inflation has risen 55%.

A story eerily similar to America, The reason why Donald Trump would be afraid.

Screenshot of President Donald Trump's Truth Social account claiming "The migrants have taken over France" as a factor for the protests in the morning of Oct.19.

Trump took to Truth Social and went out for what seems to be an extreme reach, to blame the protests on immigration.

The post appears to be written in a frantic tone as if Trump is genuinely concerned about France, However his solution seems to be one that deliberately ignores the real reason on why protestors are taking to the streets.

Which of course the unrest is due to the cost of living crises in France and the severe underfunding of education . While the story in the U.S. isn't too different, With the Iran war, Inflation is increasingly impacting the American [public with 66% of U.S. adults believing inflation is a very big problem facing the nation.](https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2026/05/21/have-americans-wages-kept-up-with-inflation-that-depends/?ref=the-midnite-desk.com)

While adding three more posts about the events he shows news footages showcasing protestors with Palestinian flags adding more to the blame of immigrant's rather than the actual roots of the protests.

In contradiction to Trump, [France P.M. Emmanuel Macron blamed the protests on “insurrectionist elements from radical far-left groups, joined by numerous criminals.”](https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2026/oct/19/europe-france-protests-riots-macron-ukraine-russia-zelenskyy-sweden-latest-news-updates?ref=the-midnite-desk.com)

With the growing popularity of socialist and progressive platforms, The true fear of Trump and the elite class, Is an angry and united American public.

By manufacturing a culture war narrative, Trump aims to split a population that should otherwise be united, as shown by the collective concern of job layoffs, the overwhelming opposition of AI, and the pain of inflation felt by many of us.

"Closing the borders" isn't enough to silence a population that has been robbed, exploited, and beaten to a state of mere survival.

We have the right to be as angry, as loud, and as united as France in order to demand for a change in a failing system that is harming every single one of us.
